Shipping Information

Updated as of February 22, 2010

I am now using flat-rate shipping for items that cannot be sent as letter mail, i.e., they are more than 2cm thick.

New shipping rates are:
CANADA -- $8
USA -- $6
INTERNATIONAL -- $10

General Information

I use Canada Post as my shipping service.  Canada Post requires packages to fit through a 2cm high slot in order to be eligible for Light Packet (over-sized lettermail) shipping rates.  If a package is thicker than 2cm, there is a marked increase in postage costs.

For US/International destinations, I use Small Packet service for packages over 2cm thick.  Canada Post does not offer insurance or delivery confirmation for Light or Small Packet.

Buyer is responsible for all import permits, duties, taxes and brokerage fees.  Please be familiar with your own countries regulations and monetary limits for imports.  Some countries have import restrictions on liquids and essential oils.  Some of my products may be considered pharmaceuticals in certain countries and therefore be subjected to import restrictions.  I mark items as “aromatherapy [product name]”.

Value of Item will be reported on customs forms as the price you paid for the item, less any discounts applied at check-out.  The price you pay me is the price you will pay duty on (if applicable).  I will not lie on customs forms and check an item as “gift”.  All items are marked as “Other – Internet Purchase”.

Refund applies on missing/lost packages.  Please see your country’s respective section below for time requirements on missing packages.  In the case of lost packages to international (non-US) destinations, I will refund the purchase price, but I will not resend the items. It is likely that the package will be intercepted again, so there is no point in re-mailing.  *For Canadian or US destinations, the customer may choose between a refund OR replacement product.

I reserve the right to refuse shipment to certain international destinations based on the current state of political affairs.  For example, a country that is occupied or under civil war will likely have postal disruptions.  There is no point mailing a package that I know will never arrive.  I will probably never need to invoke this clause, as it’s not likely that if someone is living in a war-torn country that they will be ordering aromatherapy products.

Canadian Customers

Over-Sized Lettermail price: $1.75
Flat-Rate: $8
For Canadian customers, we will consider an item missing if more than 3 weeks (including weekends) has passed since the shipping date.

American (United States) Customers

Light-Packet Rate: $2.50
Flat Rate: $6

You can see the actual shipping costs in the chart below (I use “surface”).  In most cases, packages are less than 250g.  When a package weighs more than that, I am absorbing shipping costs.
small_packet_prices10
(please click image to zoom in)
Sometimes items can be held up at border customs for a considerable amount of time.  For USA customers, we will consider a package missing if more than 6 weeks (including weekends) have passed since the shipping date.

International Customers

Light Packet Rate: $5
Flat-rate: $10
Some packages experience a considerable delay at customs, so for International customers, we will consider a package missing after the following time period:
Air service: 10 weeks from shipping date (including weekends)
Surface: 14 weeks from shipping date (including weekends)

Aromatherapy Nasal Inhalers

inhalers

Take your favourite essential oil blend on the go!

These inhaler sticks do the job of the old-fashioned smelling salts, but in a much more portable container. There is no risk of spilling or leaking.

Just take a few deep inhalations whenever you need relief. For maximum effectiveness, use BOTH nostrils, as this will make sure the scent molecules reach both sides of the brain. Keep the cap on tightly and the scent should last at least 6 months.

Head-Aid Headache Oil + Headache Inhaler

headaid

My Head-Aid oil is a very potent mix of essential oils that are believed by aromatherapists to help combat headache pain. All you need to do is rub a tiny bit into the location of your headache and within minutes you will feel the tingle as the Peppermint oil goes to work.

This product is NOT to be used on children under 12 years old. It is also not recommended for pregnant women or people with seizure disorders.

headache2HEADACHE INHALER: Three sets of three deep inhalations give most people temporary relief of headache pain. For maximum effectiveness, be sure to use the inhaler on BOTH nostrils. This way you will be reaching both sides of the brain. Many people find this inhaler helps to relieve nausea as well.

This product is not intended to replace the advice or treatment of a doctor. I make no claims or promises about the effectiveness of the product. Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy. Please see a medical professional for proper diagnosis and treatment of any health concern.

Heather Scent’s Chest Rub

newchest5  I formulated my Chest Rub to be a natural, gentle and SAFE alternative to the drugstore product. The scent is quite different than the leading “vaporizing” chest rub. This product also has great results with adults.

Starting with a base of beeswax, sweet almond and grapeseed oils, I add my proprietary (that’s fancy business-speak for “secret”) blend of essential oils. The scent is quite anti-septic, as the blend does contain Tea Tree and that tends to take over.

I recommend this rub for babies and toddlers ages 6 months and up. For babies under 6 travelsize4months, try putting the salve on your own chest and holding your baby close. This rub is safe for use by pregnant women.

Please contact me with any allergy concerns, and I will confirm if the product if suitable for you.

Also available in a travel-sized tin.

Secret Weapon Lotion

secret_weapon This is a lovely lotion I created for a friend of mine who needed some help with her dry, itchy skin. Now she tells me her whole family is hooked on it!

This cream contains essentials oils of Lavender, Peppermint and Roman Chamomile. Historically, these essential oils have been used to calm, cool and soothe the skin.
Some clients have also told me they've used this cream for help with headaches, sunburn and eczema. Everyone finds their own use for it!

This product is safe for children, but you should avoid using it directly before bedtime as the peppermint oil can interfere with some people's ability to fall asleep.

Available in 60g or 120g bottles.

Hydrosols

hydrosols Hydrosols (or floral waters) are obtained through the same steam distillation process used to obtain essential oils. Steam is passed through the plant product, which releases the essential oil. When the steam condenses into water, the essential oil rises to the top and is collected. The water itself is now a hydrosol. Hydrosols are much gentler than their essential oil counterpart because they do not contain all of the essences of the plant. They are safe for use on everyone, including the elderly, pregnant women, children and babies.

Hydrosols make excellent facial toners and skin refreshers. Use them as a pillow mist, room spray, or just to help you relax.

Available: Lavender, Peppermint,  Tea Tree, Rose, Neroli (Orange blossom), Ylang Ylang

Other types may be available on request – special order.

Luscious Lotion

lush_lotion Just what it says! This lotion is made with a fabulously rich pre-made base. I add Benzoin essential oil, which is excellent for dry skin. The lotion has a rich, warm scent to it, reminiscent of vanilla.  It’s a great lotion for the wintertime.

Available in 60g or 120g sizes.

Custom Massage Oil

IMG_6666 (768x1024)Everything about this product will be customized based on your specific needs – the essential oils, the dilution rate, and the carrier oils. I have over 75 different essential oils to choose from when creating your blend. You can use the massage oil after your shower or bath, or request that your massage therapist use it during one of your sessions.

50mL glass bottle

Essential Oils

This is a complete list of all the oils I currently have in my collection.  There are also a few that I do not own (marked with an asterisk*), but I’ve either featured (or plan to feature) them in my Spotlight series.   Click on an oil for more information.  If the name isn’t clickable, it’s because I haven’t featured that oil in my Spotlight series yet.

Of course, this is by no means a comprehensive list of all possible essential oils, but it does cover the most common and useful ones.

Services

Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy. Please see a medical professional for proper diagnosis and treatment of any health concern.  Aroma-massage can help manage the pain and symptoms related to chronic disorders, but it should not be your only means of health treatment.  Please inform your doctor that you are also receiving aroma- massages.  I am happy to provide information sheets about aromatherapy or any essential oil if your doctor has questions.

**PLEASE NOTE: I am currently offering only consultations.  Treatments (aroma-massage) will be added in the future.**

Aromatherapy Consultation Only (no bodywork)

First Visit: 30 -45 minutes -- $40

During your first visit, we will fill out at a full health history form and come up with a treatment plan. You will receive one complimentary aromatherapy product to use in carrying out your treatment plan. Other products are available for purchase

Subsequent Visits: 20-30 minutes -- $25

We will review your current health concerns and I’ll send you home with an appropriate blend.

Aroma-massage

Initial Consultation & Treatment – 1.5- 2 hours -- $85

At our initial meeting, we will fill out all the necessary health history forms, review your health concerns and develop a treatment plan. I’ll create a personalized essential oil blend to use during your aroma-massage that day.

I may also make recommendations for using essential oils in your home, or provide suggestions about other health practitioners or forms of therapy you may benefit from. I generally send my clients home with some sort of “prescription” blend or product; This is included in the cost.

Subsequent Treatments – 1 hour -- $60

We will review your current health status and concerns and I’ll make a personalized essential oil blend to use during your aroma-massage that day. Other oils/products will be prescribed as necessary.

Aroma-massage with Chakra balancing – 1.5 hours -- $75

For this treatment, I first have you lay on the treatment table ( fully clothed) and I use a pendulum to check each chakra. Next I determine a blend of essential oils based on which chakras need work or balancing. You’ll receive a 60 minute aroma-massage. After the treatment, I will re-check the chakras using the pendulum method to determine if they are balanced, or if more work is needed.

Professional Stuff
After suffering a personal loss in December 2004, a close friend gave me a gift certificate for an aroma-massage. I’d had therapeutic massages in the past, and didn’t expect an aroma-massage to be much different.

Boy, was I wrong!

The practitioner put me at ease immediately with her warm and caring demeanour. The massage itself was incredible – I felt so relaxed and nurtured. It was almost an out-of-body experience.

I’d always had an inclination towards alternative forms of health care, but that treatment really sparked my interest. I began receiving aroma-massage as often as possible – roughly every 6 weeks. After a year had passed, I noticed that I had hardly been sick at all since I started seeing an aromatherapist.

In the fall of 2005, I became pregnant, and continued to receive massage throughout my entire pregnancy (both aroma and therapeutic). My CAHP (Certified Aromatherapy Health Professional) gave me a special blend to use on my belly, which I carefully massaged in each night before bed. As a result, I came away from my pregnancy with no stretch marks at all.

I began reading every book about Aromatherapy and Herbalism that I could get my hands on. In September 2007, I decided to formalize my education and began an aromatherapy certification program with Joy Watson of Joyessence Aromatherapy Centre in Guelph, Ontario.

In March of 2008, I opened an on-line shop at Etsy.com, where I sell aromatherapy and essential oil products.

I received my Aromatherapist certificate from the Joyessence Aromatherapy Centre in August 2009.

In April 2010, I received my CAHP designation from the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists

Fun Stuff
I love Pepsi!
and felt food.
and clay miniatures.
and sleeping in.
and staying up late.
and eating dill pickle chips dipped in sour cream.
I’m a little bit snarky sometimes.  Love me anyway!

IMG_0422 About that picture up there:  Yes, those are giant sunglasses.  Like the kind a person wears after they have had eye surgery.  You see, I have super light-sensitive eyes.  It’s the curse of being a light-eyed person  (That’s my eye over there on the left).   Before I found my old-lady sunglasses, I would get a headache the instant I walked out into the sun.  Now I only get headaches when my kids stall at bedtime.

Make sure you check out all my favourite links and blogs.  You (and the RCMP) can learn a lot about a person by looking at their browser history.

Diffusers

Diffusers are the perfect way to create an aromatic environment in your home.   It can be difficult to find a high quality diffuser in a regular store, so I’ve decided to make a few styles available to my clients.

  • All diffusers are special order.
  • Allow 2-4 weeks to arrive
  • 8% provincial sales tax will be added to all orders.
  • Prices are in Canadian dollars.

Using Your Diffuser

  • Please read all directions  and follow them carefully.
  • If your diffuser is missing any pieces or does not seem to operate properly, notify me immediately.
  • I am available to show you how to operate your diffuser, if necessary.

AromaSens Nebulizer

clip_image002This aromatherapy nebulizer provides the most efficient form of diffusion. Unlike conventional essential oil burners and heaters, this diffuser uses ultrasonic technology which converts the oil and water under high frequency vibration into a fine cold mist. This mist is then diffused throughout the entire room creating a natural spa-like atmosphere. Oils are not heated at all!

I love using this one in the house when we’ve got the sniffles.

Available in Blue or Black

Benefits:
Easy to use, safe, silent and ecological. Just add water and your favourite essential oils or blends.
No heat, chemicals or pump used.
Essential oils are not altered and more benefits of each oil is derived.
Digitally controlled with auto shut-off when the water level too low.
Once filled the unit will operate for about 2 hours.

Dimensions: 10cm x 10cm x 18cm
Includes:  Diffuser and Adapter.
Price: $56.99 +tax

MIO Mini Diffuser

clip_image004The MIO Mini is small enough to fit in the palm of your hands and is the ideal way to experience the benefits of Aromatherapy in any setting. It can be used in the home, office, car or on the go.

Available in Blue or Green (not pictured)

According to reviews, this diffuser goes through batteries rather quickly, so keep some spare AAA on hand.

Instructions:
Add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil or blend on the reusable pad.
Lift the grill and place pad on the MIO. Push the Start button and enjoy your essential oil.

Dimensions: 10cm x 8.5cm x 3cm.
Includes: Diffuser, 5 refill pads and 1 AAA battery
Price: $27.99 +tax
Refill Pads: $2.99/pack of 10

Mini Diffusers for Home or Car

clip_image012 clip_image014

A great way to take your favourite scent on the go!  Since these diffusers use heat to diffuse the oils, I recommend them for air freshening purposes, not therapeutic use.   However, you should still  avoid using very relaxing oils while driving!

Car diffuser (top) plugs into cigarette lighter. Home diffuser plugs into standard outlet.

Add 5-6 drops of essential oil to the pad and insert into the diffuser. Plug in the diffuser and in a few moments you will smell the oils. The oil pad can be reused until it begins to discolour.

Comes with 5  pads.

$11.99 each +tax
Refill Pads: $1.99/10 pack
